Delhi squatted in a must-win match to advance to the play-offs. Mumbai Indians suffered a crushing defeat. Mumbai won the match by 9 wickets with 18 points. Batting first in the match, Delhi scored only 110 runs in the allotted 20 overs to put Mumbai ahead by a narrow margin.

Batting first, Mumbai started the innings with a target of 111. As the target was small the batsmen played slowly at first without going for unnecessary shots and then dispersed. Opener Ishant Kishan scored an unbeaten 72 off 47 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Quinton Decock was out for 26 while Suryakumar Yadav was out for 12. As a result, they lost only one wicket and won by 14.2 overs.

Delhi, who had earlier won the toss and elected to bat, did poorly throughout the innings. While the Mumbai bowlers were on the run, the fall of wickets, which started with Shikhar Dhawan (0) out in the first over, continued till the end. The highest individual score in the Delhi team was by captain Shreyas Iyer. He scored 25 off 29 balls with fours and sixes. Pant then scored 21 runs. None of the others excelled significantly. The result ended Delhi’s innings at 110 for 9 in 20 overs.
